Improving energy efficiency and safety of driving of electric vehicles by using mechatronic drives in steering and brake systems

EDN: RPRMVP

Abstract

Introduction (problem statement and relevance). Currently, there is a tendency toward a gradual increase in the number of electric vehicles in operation. This tendency is supported at the national level. At the same time, there is a problem of improving the energy efficiency and safety of electric vehicles. Search for the ways to solve this problem is highly relevant.

The purpose of the study is to improve the energy efficiency and safety of electric vehicles by using mechatronic drives in steering and brake systems.

Methodology and research methods. This study used the method of searching for information in the field of vehicle energy efficiency and safety improvement, with its subsequent analysis and synthesis.

Scientific novelty and results. The scientific novelty of the study consists in formulation of the relevant problem and the proposed ways to solve it. Based on the collected and consolidated information on directions of growth of electric vehicles, in terms of steering and brake systems, the study formulates the relevant problem of improving their energy efficiency and safety. The interrelation between improvement of the energy efficiency and safety of electric vehicles and the use of mechatronic drives in motion control systems, being a special case of the concept of a fully electric vehicle, that is justified in the study, has been established for the first time.

Practical significance. The study is aimed at improvement of the energy efficiency and safety of electric vehicles. The practical and confirmed results will be obtained within the framework of further research and solution of tasks set in this study.
